This project was inspired by a 20th century hand-knitted sock made in Mezőberény, Hungary. When designing the knitwear collection, I kept the main colors and knitting patterns of the original garment, but instead of the thin cotton yarn used to knit the socks, I chose to work with different types of wool yarns. As for the silhouettes, I was inspired by the simple, tubular shape of the original piece and the romantic style of the knitted lace patterns on it. The final piece is a hand-knitted, chunky white maxi dress with red and blue trim, featuring all three lace patterns from the original sock.
